EUROVISION at the MOVIES
'Derrick - Die Pflicht Ruft', Germany 2004

Inspector Stephan Derrick (voiced by Horst Tappert) has reduced the crime rate in Munich to 0,00%, but he cannot rest on his laurels. Although on his way to Lapland on another case, the German National Selection to the Eurovision Song Contest is keeping him and his assistant Harry Klein (voiced by Fritz Wepper) busy.

The shifty schlager king Arno Hello is desperate to win the competition, but he is behind in the polls. So he decides to eliminate all other competitors, no matter what. First to go are the 'Irreplaceable Boys', but they are just for starters. Further murders follow and the eccentric Arno Hello is the main suspect.

'Derrick' ran on German television for 24 years and 281 episodes, October 1974 - October 1998. It was also internationally successful, having been sold to more than 100 countries.
The decision to bring him back for one more case was welcomed by both main characters, who agreed to voice their cartoon counterparts.

The soundtrack of the movie was represented in the Germany Final 2004, 'Ich Schenk Dir Mein Herz', sung by Tina Frank. It did not qualify for the Eurovision final.
